Recognising the immense strain that some Irish roads put on vehicle steering and suspension components, parts specialist FAI has developed a range of link rods with extra strong construction of the ball joint. These link roads are signified by a red securing clip and provide a reassuring repair solution.
FAI say the design is perfect for potholed roads as the ball pin pull-out force has been improved by 25 kgf over the original design, making for a long-lasting replacement.
High rotational torque puts stress on the casing internals of the ball joint, a process which is inevitable as the ball pin absorbs body roll during cornering. FAI’s patented design allows the ball joint to rotate more freely and as a result, increases efficiency by 44%. The impact of this improved design means the red-clip link rods instil confidence and ultimately improves the longevity of the part.
The extra strong construction is used only selectively in the FAI range as it is not necessary in many applications. As one of the best-established suppliers of Steering & Suspension parts, FAI works closely with fitters and partner manufacturers to analyse data to identify the parts that warrant significant investment in re-designing. Currently there are 60+ in the range, but this number will continue to grow over the coming months and years as manufacturers persist in using the plastic cap style housing.
The 60+ parts cover hundreds of models as manufacturers share platforms and related components. FAI customers can easily identify an FAI part which utilises this technology by the red securing clip visible at the bottom of the assembly. Some of the biggest sellers include common applications like the Ford C-max, Focus II, Mondeo IV, and Transit Connect, to name just a few.
FAI products are widely stocked throughout Ireland and available from local motor factors. Alternatively visit faiauto.com or call on 0044 1525 351837 for more information.
