Further additions have been made to TechTips.ie, Europe’s largest online automotive aftermarket technical information resource. The site now contains some 2400 technical tip documents and videos from leading aftermarket suppliers. Updated regularly to reflect common problems that workshops encounter on a daily basis, TechTips.ie provides the technician with fast access to the technical information he needs using an intelligent search function. This means users can search by make, model, part or type of problem. The site is also completely free with no registration or log-in required.

Some interesting recent additions to the site include:

A technical video from Pierburg concerning the fitment of piston rings. The video highlights how to inspect pistons, essential cleaning procedures, how to fit the new rings and the tools required to complete the job successfully. Click here to view.

A second technical video from Pierburg concerns the measurement of bearing clearance of the crankshaft and connecting rod. This is a vital procedure to ensure that the engine runs smoothly and this video includes some very useful tips on how to take a precise measurement. Click here to view.

Also recently added to the site is a Tech Tip from ContiTech which provides instructions for the installation of a tension pulley on various Fiat, Ford, and Alfa 1.1-1.4 engines. In particular the tip shows how to overcome the common problem of the spring becoming detached from the pulley, which means that it is no longer possible to set the tension. Click here to view.
