The recent Los Angeles Auto Show featured lots of electric vehicles and lots of SUVs, but few models attracted the amount of attention that the all electric Bollinger B1 SUV was receiving.
Made by New York State based company Bollinger Motors, the B1 looks much like an updated version of an old Land Rover, but there the similarity ends. You certainly will not find a dirty diesel engine under the bonnet. In fact you won’t find anything at all under the bonnet as the entire drive train and power unit is under the vehicle floor. This means that it has a long storage bed with a pass-through area which the makers say can hold 24 2x4 planks of wood.
Bollinger says that the B1 is the world’s first all electric, all wheel drive, on and off road utility truck and believe the design has the potential to revolutionise the huge US pick-up market.
