If you happened to see the beast of a truck brought over from the UK by John Darvell
of Neil Yates Recovery at the IFRS Tullamore Show last July, you might have wondered how often and in what circumstances such an impressive piece of equipment is called for.

The truck it seems, is in regular use and has come into its own on a number of occasions. For example, John was recently asked to recover a Demag 60 Ton crane from a narrow road in a dangerous situation. The Mercedes engine on the unit had completely died, which also meant that the crane could not be steered, thus ruling out flat towing. The answer according to John was a, “Good old fashioned chain lifting.” Not many trucks could handle such a weight in these circumstances but the 5X found it no problem.
