Too dangerous to attend?

The AA in the UK has come under fire after refusing to go to the assistance of a stranded driver because he had broken down on the wrong type of road.

James Main, of Kilmarnock in Scotland claims he was told by the AA that they could not help as his son Graeme, who’s Vauxhall Calibra had broken down on the A77 because it was on a 'live' road without a hard shoulder. Instead he had to call out Police and a local recovery operator to tow the car and pay a recovery fee, despite having a full AA membership.

An AA spokesman said they would investigate the incident but added that it was sometimes too dangerous to attend an incident where there was no hard shoulder. Mr Main said he would not be renewing his motoring organisation membership.
