Martin Williams Ltd, one of the UK’s leading Commercial Vehicle Accident Repair Centres has announced the renewal of a 5 year product supply agreement with their chosen paint partner PPG Industries. The news comes at a time when the PPG FLEETWATCH® partner is in the process of making a £1.1 million investment in their state of the art facility.

The expansion will see the already extensive workshop doubling its capacity to 50,000 sq. ft. This will incorporate 2 of the latest USI Italia Cargo energy efficient low bake commercial vehicle spray booths. Measuring 23 metres long they are some of the biggest booths in Europe and can be segregated allowing them to throughput 4 vehicles at any one time.

Martin Williams have also introduced a purpose built mixing room complete with PPG and NEXA AUTOCOLOR® Commercial Vehicle paint schemes, housing the latest Colour IT from PPG Industries including TOUCHMIX® mixing station and RAPIDMATCH™ X-5 spectrophotometer.

As well as being a leader in commercial vehicle accident repair and maintenance, Martin Williams Ltd has grown to design and manufacture commercial vehicle bodies. In response to increasing demand and continued success an extra 25 staff have been recruited in the last 6 months significantly increasing the capacity and efficiency of the operation.

Still a family run business, the company is headed up by Martin and his two sons Nick and Chris, who now employ an 85 strong team of paint sprayers, panel beaters, body builders and mechanics.  Martin says, “One of the biggest challenges in the market is efficiency, not just to maximise our profitability but also because all of the vehicles we work on are revenue producing assets to the fleet managers. Reducing cycle time is paramount and the recent investment and partnership with PPG helps us to deliver this.” He adds, “We believe PPG’s Commercial Transport paint systems are the best in the market, complemented by excellent tools such as the PPG Spectro RapidMatch X-5 spectrophometer and the PPG FleetWatch PaintSpec system which is a great advantage to help us accurately match the colours and designs for the liveries of huge variety of fleets.”

Alan Selby, PPG Commercial Transport Business Manager said, “Working with Martin Williams on the expansion demonstrates the PPG commitment to working with our customers to create stronger businesses for the future. We are delighted Martin Williams have chosen PPG Industries as their continued paint partner.”
