Toyota has announced the recall of over seven million vehicles on a global basis due to a faulty power window switch.

The recall effects certain models produced between 2005 and 2010 and concerns the electric window switch on the driver's side. These it appears failed to be greased properly in production and can cause friction and in some cases smoke, although there are no reports of injuries or crashes caused by this issue.

Toyota Ireland has said it will be recalling Yaris, Auris, Corolla and RAV 4 vehicles as a precaution. Repairs to the window switch will be carried out free of charge.
