It is now a year since the Toyota Write-Off Avoidance Programme was first introduced and during this time it has helped to keep huge numbers of Toyota vehicles on the road that may otherwise have been unnecessarily scrapped. This has made the programme not only popular with Toyota drivers, but has also seen a very positive response from bodyshops, Toyota dealer parts departments and insurance companies.
The programme was developed by the Toyota Ireland Aftersales team, to target category C and D write-offs, which would normally be classified as uneconomical repairs. Under the programme the Toyota Dealer, subject to certain criteria, can offer an additional discount on parts and work with the repairer and the insurance company to facilitate a more economical repair and keep the car on the road.
Arthur Power, After Sales Business Representative at Toyota Ireland says, “The programme has developed throughout the year and has seen a steady increase in up-take. Bodyshops who have used the programme have been particularly impressed by the speed of response from the dealer and how quick and easy the process can be. Customers are also naturally delighted to have a chance to keep their own cars on the road and are not left out of pocket by lower than expect insurance valuation on a written off vehicle.” Arthur adds, “The use of genuine Toyota parts means the quality and safety of the repair is of the very highest standard and there are also important environmental benefits through a reduction in waste.”
Arthur concludes, “We would encourage any bodyshop that is faced with a marginal uneconomical repair on a Toyota vehicle estimate to contact their dealer parts department and explore the possibilities that the Write-Off Avoidance Programme may be able to offer. They will receive a quick response and there is a good possibility that they can secure the repair and keep their customers car on the road.”
