Training for peak performance

Proper training is key to success in many aspects of life and business, yet it is something that is all too often overlooked. This is especially true in the accident repair field, where changing technology and materials make the need for effective training a must.

Spies Hecker is an organisation that has long emphasised the importance of effective training, in order to enhance quality and efficiency in the painting process. This, after all, is the sharp end of the bodyshop business, where top class performance can make all the difference to the profitability of the whole organisation.

The Spies Hecker team in Ireland, offers a combination of on-site training at the customer’s premises and specialist training courses run at the Spies Hecker Refinish Academy in the UK. Courses at the Academy have proved especially beneficial to many Irish customers, because they allow painters to explore the latest materials, techniques and working practices in a perfect training environment, away from the day to day pressures of a busy bodyshop.

The Spies Hecker Refinish Academy brings together expert tuition, the latest refinishing technology and advanced Spies Hecker materials in a modern spacious setting, that offers the flexibility of both classroom and practical settings, including full low bake ovens and colour mixing laboratories.

The facility and courses have been fully accredited by the IMI as an Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) centre for refinishing, meaning those attending courses at the Academy can complete Paint Technician or Senior Paint Technician assessments.

A range of courses are on offer covering various aspects of refinishing, all with an emphasis on process efficiency and allowing paint technicians to achieve their maximum potential. The courses also reflect the huge ongoing commitment that Spies Hecker has in the research and development of new paints, materials and techniques, demonstrating the latest developments and showing how attendees can integrate improvements into their business.

Courses include; Speed Repair, demonstrating how to make the most of this fast growing area of business potential and  3 Stage Paint Finishes, taking an in-depth look at the methodology and practical application of special finishes. There are also courses designed to help customers improve their colour matching ability and make the most of the Spies Hecker range of advanced colour tools including the ColorDialog digital colour matching system. Other programmes provide a detailed understanding of the latest waterborne and high solid refinish technologies.

To help delegates apply their new skills and knowledge in the workplace there is a follow up procedure for performance monitoring and on-going training dialogue.
