The truck industry and towing and recovery came to prime time TV recently, when Nikki King, MD of Isuzu Truck (UK) was the subject of the popular channel 4 series Undercover Boss.

    Nikki, who many Isuzu customers in Ireland might know from company events and trade shows, took on the undercover role on a dealership shop floor, to get to grips with the problems of the organisation faces and what staff really think of her company.

    Nikki said she found the whole experience very positive and informative and was pleasantly surprised by the attitude of many staff. She said, “I was really surprised how proud everyone was of the job they did and how much passion they had for the business. They were also so keen to show me their job and were unendingly patient."

    One of the most interesting experiences she had while undercover involved a recovery operation. She commented, "Going out with our recovery company was a simply terrifying experience and I am lost in admiration for recovery operators and the really dangerous job they do. I am so pleased I started a charity for operators injured at roadside (RISC) four years ago – they really need all the help they can get."
