Refinish paint brand Cromax is showing how bodyhops can boost productivity and reduce material cost with an innovative tool that demonstrates it ValueShade concept.

ValueShade is a smart primer concept where seven different shades of grey are created as the optimal undercoat colour for every basecoat colour. This optimises coverage saving application time and also significantly lowers paint consumption thus providing a big financial saving. Kevin Welling, Training Academy Manager for Axalta Coating Systems in the UK and Ireland, says, "The ValueShade concept truly helps bodyshops to reap improved productivity and profitability. The straightforward ValueShade gadget is painted with four different primer colours, over which sits a transparent, coloured plastic film to represent the Cromax basecoat. Kevin adds, "Peel the film back and at first glance, it might appear that the lighter primer, which is a similar colour to the basecoat layer, would be the best choice. But lay the film down, and it immediately shows that the ValueShade primer, which is perhaps not what you might think appropriate for the basecoat colour, completely disappears; the other three all still grin through. It’s a great way to see just how productive our ValueShade primer concept is, and how easy it can be for bodyshops to achieve excellent basecoat coverage with the least amount of material.”
