Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, official motoring partner of the National Ploughing Championships for the ninth consecutive year, return to this year's Ploughing Championships with some impressive Irish debuts.

Taking place in Ballintrane, Fenagh, Co. Carlow f, the National Ploughing Championships, attracts almost a quarter of a million visitors each year. This year, visitors can enjoy the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles stand which will be situated at Block 3, Row 22, Stand 491 and include two versions of the new Transporter 6.1 models on display.

This latest version of the Transporter features a striking new design, and comes with new technology including a completely redesigned instrument panel and for the first time, with fully digital instruments: the Digital Cockpit (passenger variants only). There is a new electro-mechanical power steering, enabling the use of active steering assistance systems, which will allow the use of technology such as Lane Assist, Park Assist and Trailer Assist. Every model in the Transporter range makes an ideal towing vehicle, with a towing capacity of up to 2,500kg. The Transporter 6.1 also now gains the added benefits of the 'We Connect' online connectivity, which opens up a whole new spectrum of web-based services and functions.

Spectators will be treated to the all new Volkswagen Grand California, an addition to the California range that offers even more space and creature comforts. The ever-popular Caddy, the Crafter, the Amarok, the Shuttle, the Caddy Life and California will also be on show.

Commenting ahead of the Ploughing Championships, Kim Kilduff, Head of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in Ireland said: "It goes without saying that we are strong supporters of the Ploughing Championships and we are really excited about this year's event as it gives us a chance to debut our exciting new product line-up. And the show is the perfect environment to informally discuss our product range and customers can really get a hands-on experience of the range. We would encourage anyone to come and join us for a coffee and a chat about our products and the financial offers we have too."
