C&F Green Energy, recently took possession of two new Volvo FH13 460’s from Irish Commercials Volvo in Oranmore.
C & F Green Energy’s General Manager Mr Gerry Hickey explained the criteria he used when buying new trucks for the C & F Fleet can be summed up in one statement “Owning and operating Costs” or rather “lower owning and operating costs”.
With fuel costs in the transport industry representing approximately 30%, and the price of fuel constantly rising, it was imperative that our new vehicles were fuel efficient. My research identified that Volvo trucks with “I” shift transmissions were unrivalled in terms of fuel efficiency. Running costs were next on the list, Brendan O’Malley of Irish Commercials worked with me to include an extended warranty and fixed priced contract maintenance. The Irish Commercials Oranmore approach and way of working, backed up by their 24/7 breakdown service made our decision even easier. As we expand our business in Europe, Volvo’s European service centre and dealer network was another influencing factor. With Brendan’s assistance, we also secured a very competitive finance lease package through Volvo Finance Services which, when coupled with the warranty and Volvo servicing ensures healthy resale values. When all these factors were combined, Volvo Trucks were definitely standing out as being the lowest ‘owning and operating costs’ vehicles in their class.
