Wexford based Nissan Master Technician, Eddie Cullen took the gold medal prize in the recent European final of the Nissan International Service Technical Contest.

Eddie, who works at the Wexford Car Centre, qualified for the European final by ranking amongst the top six Nissan Technicians in the Irish Nissan Dealer Network, when they competed against each other in the Irish National final earlier this year. The European final was staged in Paris and in a highly technically challenging event Eddie held off tough competition from 57 other competitors, representing 17 different European countries to finish in the gold medal position.

Eddie was the only Irish Technician to compete and his victory was made even more remarkable by the fact that much of the competition was based on a supercharged engine version of the Nissan Micra, a model new to him as it is not available in Ireland.

The four practical tests included in the competition were; Engine Control Fault Diagnosis, Heating Ventilation and Air Condition System Fault Diagnosis, Body Electrical Fault Diagnosis and Pre Delivery Vehicle preparation.

The judging criteria placed particular emphasis on quality of work, and ensuring the customer expectations were met by “Fixing It Right First Time, And On Time”.
