A new report by Road Safety Analysis has found that young drivers who live in rural areas are 37% more likely to be injured in a collision than those who live in towns and cities.

The report also says that 30% of all accidents involve young drivers aged between 16 and 29 and that young drivers in rural areas are some 60% more likely to be injured in an accident than older drivers in the same area.

Factors such as higher average mileages for rural drivers and poorer roads are thought to be the main reason for the findings.
