Two-time FIA European Rallycross Champion Derek Tohill and the PFCRX team claimed a third victory of the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship season at Pembrey in South Wales to remain in the hunt for a maiden British RX crown.

On the back of challenging events in British RX at Lydden Hill and in the European Championship at Loheac in France, the Irish squad hit the ground running at Pembrey, and even despite what was deemed to be racing-incident contact with title-rival Julian Godfrey in Q2, Tohill lead qualifying overnight on Saturday.

That incident in Q2 caused significant damage to the right-rear suspension of the OlsbergsMSE-built, C-Sport prepared Ford Fiesta Supercar, but thanks to hard work from the team the car was in perfect condition again for Q3 on Sunday morning, held in wet conditions.

Derek managed to secure pole position for the final, and a good start and strong pace was enough to secure victory.

The squad’s third victory from the opening six rounds of the season leaves Derek ust two points off the standings lead, with just a double-header weekend remaining at Croft in North Yorkshire next month to determine who will claim the 2019 British RX trophy.
