In some instances cleaning or replacement of a DPF may only provide a short term solution to problems on a vehicle and this can often be due to problems upstream
Andy Amor of Revive says that very often a DPF is thought to be inefficient when the problems may actually be caused by a build- up of soot deposits in the engine’s gas path, which includes the EGR and Turbocharger . He comments, "We have actually performed road tests that show that DPF regeneration strategies are quite efficient at dealing with soot loading, even on relatively short journey cycles. However, if for example there is a fault code in the ECU relating to Turbocharger Over-Boost or Under-Boost, the regeneration strategy will abort any attempt to naturally regenerate. This increase soot loadings and results in DPF related fault codes until the problem upstream has been rectified.”
DPF and turbo problems are caused by similar factors, such as wrong oil specification, poor maintenance, low fuel quality and short journeys. This can cause a build-up of contaminants that affect both the DPF and the turbo. For effective engine performance both need to be working efficiently, so effective cleaning and maintenance of both makes sense.
Revive is a simple, effective turbo cleaning solution that can not only be used to solve serious turbo issues, without disassembly, but is also an effective preventative maintenance treatment. Andy says, "Using Revive will not only transform the performance of an engine but also mean that because the vehicle is running much cleaner it is far less prone to DPF issues.” He adds, "Turbo and DPF problems are often related. By using Revive a garage can be confident that the turbo is not creating more problems for the DPF and avoid a scenario where the customer keeps coming back with the DPF light on.”
Revive Turbo Cleaner is available from motor factor stockists nationwide.
