Lamborghini to make Countach comeback
Share:

You were far more likely to see one on the bedroom wall of a teenager, rather than actually on the road, but the Lamborghini Countach is an icon of 70’s and 80’s super cars. With its sharp angles and wedge shape it was beautiful, powerful and totally impractical. However, this won’t stop an army of fans lusting after the new version.

The Lamborghini Countach LPI 800-4 pays homage to its famous predecessors and is seen as the last blast of petrol engine power before the supercar maker embarks on an all electric future. It will have  6.5-litre V-12 engine, combined with 34-hp hybrid supercapacitor technology to produce a total of about 825 hp. The car will be all all-wheel drive and capable of 0 to 100 kph in 2.8 seconds, with a top speed of over 355 kph.

Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann said, "The Countach LPI 800-4 is a visionary car of the moment, just as its forerunner was. One of the most important automotive icons, the Countach not only embodies the design and engineering tenet of Lamborghini but represents our philosophy of reinventing boundaries, achieving the unexpected and extraordinary and, most importantly, being the 'stuff of dreams."

Lamborghini have indicated that the first deliveries of the hand-built 2022 Countach would begin in the first quarter of next year. The price is expected to be around the 2.25 million euro mark.
