The crankshaft sensor determines the rotational speed and crankshaft position. From these values, the control unit calculates the injection and ignition impulses.
If the crankshaft sensor fails, the engine begins to stutter or even stops. The camshaft sensors are mounted on the cylinder head. The sensors determine their exact position via a ring gear on the camshaft. From this, the engine control unit calculates the start of injection. If the camshaft sensors fail, an emergency operation of the engine is the only possibility and the vehicle uses more fuel. The engine cannot be restarted.
The quality brand VEMO offers 430 different crankshaft and camshaft sensors, among which more than 50 references have been awarded the Q+ seal of excellence: This marks vehicle parts manufactured in Germany in OEM quality, and is the hallmark of high quality.
The valuable sensors by VEMO are safely packed in the antistatic iSP foil. A special additive is mixed to the packaging film in order to avoid electrical charges of the sensors, and to secure a high level of protection to the chips inside.
