Audi is planning to produce an all-electric, self-driving luxury car called the A9 E-tron by 2020.
The E-tron will use a single electric motor for the front wheels, with two individual motors offering torque vectoring across the rear axle, with normal and sporty driving modes. The motors will receive power from a 95kWh battery mounted below the passenger compartment.
The German car makers plans to give the car a fully autonomous driving mode and is currently working on considerable improvements to sensors and processing power to achieve this.
The A9 E-tron will compete in a new electric luxury car segment with the likes of Tesla, Mercedes, and Porsche. It is expect to be in production in around 4 years time.
