In a tribute to rally driver Colin McRae, Prodrive recently organised a huge Subaru Impreza drive event, which claimed two world records and created some pretty impressive pictures.
The special event, to honour the memory of the late Colin McRae, saw more than 1,000 Imprezas gathered in McRae’s home town of Lanark, before being led by Colin’s father Jimmy on a 300 mile drive to the Prodrive headquarters at Banbury in Oxfordshire. The Impreza convoy was said to stretch for 30miles as it moved down the M6.
The participants gathered again the next day to create a giant sign spelling out Colin’s name, together with a Scottish flag using 1,086 cars. This beat the previous Guinness World Record of 800 cars. The Subaru convoy then broke the world record for the largest parade of cars as they filed out of the Prodrive test track. The whole event raised some €50,000 for charities supported by the McRae family.
