Fifteen year old Cameron Fenton took his second double victory of 2017 at the Formula Vee Festival at Mondello Park.

Having improved the car during pre event testing, both Cameron and his father Willie were confident that they would set the pace in qualifying. They were provven right when the Fenton Fireplaces machine topped the timesheets, some two tenths ahead of series leader Patrick Dempsey.

In race one, with oil on the track, conditions were treacherous, but the Greystones student excelled, constantly lapping a second a lap faster than the rest of the field and crossing the line over 13 seconds ahead of his nearest challenger. Starting from pole once again for race two, he led the field away and gradually eased away to take the chequered flag for the second time.

Two poles positions, two wins and a pair of fastest laps meant total domination from Cameron and he left Mondello Park as the new leader of the 2017 Ginetta Junior Ireland Championship.

Cameron Fenton: "I knew we would be strong this weekend. We have been improving the car steadily all season and made some further changes in testing on Friday. Race one was relatively easy and in race two it was just a matter of getting my head down and easing away."
