The Garage Inspector, Andy Savva, has produced a short video for garages returning to work in Ireland and how they can make customers feel safe at their premises with a special “Back on track” pack that has been produced by parts manufacturer Schaeffler.
Andy says that as garages reopen they should expect demand to be strong due to a backlog of work that has built up in the system and, over the coming months, that they can also expect to benefit from increased vehicle use due to fears about using public transport. He also points out that despite the suspension of the NCT, garages still have a duty of care to ensure vehicles leave their workshop in a safe condition and every motorist must also ensure their car is roadworthy.
According to Andy making customers feel safe at a garage premises is essential to getting things moving again and the Schaeffler “Back on track” pack can play a key role in achieving this. It contains some social distancing essentials such as floor stickers and tape as well as some PPE, hand sanitiser and posters which highlight the importance of maintaining social distance.
Andy also talks about how garages can boost business through vehicle safety checks and promoting value added services and provides some useful best practice tips about staying safe in the workshop.
