Garages engage with “Original Aftermarket”

It is now almost a year since Brake Engineering’s Original Aftermarket initiative was introduced and the company and its distributors firmly believe it has helped to actively engage garages on issues such as component supply and quality.

Brake Engineering distributor, Ewan Murray, Managing Director at Automotive Parts Distribution says, “Motor factors and suppliers have to work in partnership to support garages throughout all areas of their business and it is the supply of quality components and brands that is most critical to maintaining prosperity throughout aftermarket.” He adds, “With Brake Engineering, we completely understand where Original Aftermarket fits with regards to its positioning the brand to the aftermarket. It enables us to promote the brand’s quality directly to customers thanks to the high level of support available from the supplier. The consequence of this is that quality is their number one buying criteria, coupled with competitive pricing.”

Automotive Parts Distribution has been trading since 1946 mainly in the south west of England. The company supplies garages with a Brake Engineering braking solution including calipers and discs. Ewan says the Brake Engineering brake disc programme is one of the most comprehensive ranges available in the automotive aftermarket, providing exceptional performance, life and brake disc compatibility, with the additional comfort factor of reduced noise and judder.

Brake Engineering says its pareto list, featuring the top part numbers for all braking product groups, is known to be the most in-depth in the market. It includes an analysis of each part number’s popularity over the past three years’, comprehensive cross-referencing and full vehicle make and model descriptions.  “The pareto information, flexibility and support from Brake Engineering is excellent and makes life a lot easier for a parts distributor,” says Ewan.

Adam Griffiths, Brake Engineering marketing specialist, adds, “Original Aftermarket continues to demonstrate Brake Engineering’s commitment to the independent aftermarket. Our focus has always been on “aftermarket” ranges and ensuring that what is on a motor factor’s shelf is relevant to the vehicles in independent garages. This means the emphasis is still on the three to 10 years old plus vehicle market. This is not just because of warranty, as independent garages continue to capture more of the newer vehicle market, but down to our in-depth analysis of the braking sector, looking at the fastest moving products throughout the car parc.”
