Refinish supplier Cromax has launched an innovative new product designed to help bodyshops achieve improved productivity, quicker turnarounds and faster-curing. The 1K primer surfacer – UV-A Primer-Surfacer PS1410A comes in a convenient aerosol can for ease of use.

“Our new UV-A Primer-Surfacer PS1410A offers a range of productivity benefits for our bodyshops. One of its principal advantages is the speed of application,” says Kevin Welling, Training Academy Manager for Axalta Coating Systems. He adds, “UV-A Primer-Surfacer PS1410A, which is a semi-transparent grey colour, helps increase bodyshop throughput thanks to only three to six minutes drying time using most commercially-available UV-A lamps, and its ability to be sanded as soon as it is cured.”

The product can be applied directly onto sanded and cleaned substrates, steel and galvanised steel, e-coated parts and original paintwork in one and a half coats, without the need for an activator or thinner. It is also suitable for plastic substrates, which must be pre-treated with a plastic adhesion promoter.

Kevion says the resulting finish, which is smooth and easy to sand, coupled with its good filling power, extremely low tendency for edge mapping and good hardness, make UV-A Primer-Surfacer PS1410A particularly well-suited to small and panel repairs.
