Al Hayes of Al Hayes Motors, Portumna, County Galway has been presented with the Volkswagen Gold Pin Award, the highest national accolade given by the brand to individuals. Only 3 people are awarded the Gold Pin award each year, for outstanding service to the VW brand and for meeting the highest level of quality standards.

An authorised Volkswagen dealer since 1987, Al Hayes Motors has expanded through a strong foundation of honesty, hard work and high levels of customer satisfaction to become Ireland’s biggest Volkswagen dealership for both passenger and commercial vehicles.

Established in 1983 by Al & Noreen Hayes in Churchill, Portumna, beside the family home. Since 2005, the business is now centred around a gleaming state-of-the-art garage with a 14 car showroom, a 15 car workshop and a top class body repair centre at Galway Road, Portumna. Now employing 40 people the Al Hayes Motors has been the top retailer of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles for many years and now is Volkswagen’s number one passenger dealership too.

There are now five younger members of the Hayes family involved in the business.
