Westport based haulage company, Beirne Express, celebrating 25 Years in business this year, recently took ownership of the first Volvo FH16 750 Ocean Race Limited Edition truck in Ireland.
This purchase was very fitting for Beirne Express in their anniversary year as the truck itself is celebrating a milestone; a Volvo 25th Anniversary edition and proudly wearing the Volvo Ocean Race Livery in recognition of the race ending in neighboring Galway this July.
Martin Beirne founded Beirne Express on the 2nd of February 1987 and today operates a fleet of 10 trucks which are predominantly Volvo. A family business, Martin is very proud to have his wife Geraldine at the helm with him in addition many other members of his family who between them have worked very hard over the last 25 years to grow and build the business into the very successful operation that it is today.
Brendan O’Malley of Irish Commercials Volvo in Oranmore, is particularly proud of this truck sale and honored to have sold it to Beirne Express. This is owing to the fact that Brendan is also a Westport native and as a young man on his daily journey to school at Rice College never envisaged that he would one day sell the most powerful truck in the world into his hometown and to Beirne Express who’s trucks passed him daily. It is the 750bhp and a massive 3550nm of torque which is the equivalent torque of 12 family cars that makes this truck the most powerful production truck in the world currently.
Brendan O’Malley and the team at Irish commercials would like to take this opportunity to wish continued success to Martin and all the team at Beirne Express and look forward to working with them for another 25 years.
