Audi Ireland is supporting 'GermanConnects'; a new initiative led by the German Embassy and Goethe-Institut Irland aimed at promoting the German language at primary, secondary and third level in Ireland.

As part of this partnership, Audi Ireland will provide the programme with an Audi A3 Sportback to travel to GermanConnects events around the country; the next of which will take place in at Coláiste na Trócaire, Rathkeale, Limerick on Thursday 17th October 2013. The GermanConnects team will then travel to Mary Immaculate College, Limerick on Friday 18th October.

Spoken by almost 120 million people worldwide, German is the second most popular language taught in Irish secondary schools. The campaign aims to promote German as an important language for business and science as well as to help young Irish people improve their employability here in Ireland or abroad.

Christian Gussen, managing director Audi Ireland commented: "As a multinational German company, we recognise the value of language skills and are pleased to support this programme in association with the German Embassy and Goethe-Institut Irland. German is an important language for business and we look forward to helping promote the language around Ireland over the course of the academic year."

Dr. Eckhard Lübkemeier, German Ambassador to Ireland, commented: "We are delighted to be working with Audi Ireland on this initiative. As one of the most successful German companies in the world, Audi's support further demonstrates the value of the German language not only in business but also in science and engineering."
