German Oils, Additives and Car Care specialist LIQUI MOLY had a major presence at Automechanika Birmingham showing its latest products and workshop innovations which included a convenient oil dispenser.

Recently introduced oils on show included Molygen New Generation oil formulated to meet the demands of the very latest engines. LIQUI MOLY say these glowing green oils offer especially strong protection that reduces friction in the motor by up to 15% and wear by up to 30%. This is due to friction modifiers, chemical ingredients that smooth the metal surfaces in the engine and even out microscopically small bumps. This reduced friction means reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions.

The oil is especially good for start-stop applications. Usually when an engine stops the lubrication also stops. This means there is a risk of increased wear at the next start so the added protection offered by Molygen becomes even more important. The Molygen product line comes in viscosities 5W-20, 5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, and 5W-40.

Visitors to the stand also had the chance to see Gear Tronic, LIQUI MOLY’s high-tech machine for Automatic Transmission Fluid changes. This equipment and special LIQUI MOLY additives make it possible for professional mechanics to offer complete transmission oil service including cleaning, flushing and filling. This machine ensures that the lubricant is replaced completely, which was not possible previously.

Gear Tronic also offers versatile connection possibilities, because access is possible at three points,  through the dipstick guide tube, through the hose connections on the transmission fluid cooler or directly on the transmission. It is vital that transmission fluid remains at the same level during the change otherwise the vehicle's electronic system reports an error. Gear Tronic regulates this through digital scales, to ensure that the quantity of new fluid added to the transmission is exactly equal to the quantity of old fluid taken out.

LIQUI MOLY point out that transmission fluid needs to be changed every 50,000 to 75,000 miles so this represents a significant opportunity for garages.
