NTN-SNR enhances wheel speed sensor range

NTN-SNR has made further additions to its product line-up and is now offering an enhanced range of wheel speed sensors for the independent aftermarket. This comes some 20 years after its pioneering work in this field saw the initial series production of the very first ASB (Active Sensor Bearing) instrumented wheel at the NTN SNR factory in Seynod in the Haute-Savoie region of France.

To encourage technological development and increased safety, SNR opened its know-how and licenses to its patents to the other major players on the market after the initial development and as a result, ASB is now recognised as the worldwide standard for automotive wheel speed measurement. This in turn led to the development of other systems such as anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC).

Building on its strength in mechatronic technologies, NTN-SNR is the first wheel bearing manufacturer to launch a line of 214 wheel speed sensors to complete its Automotive Aftermarket range. That broad range covers nearly 6,500 vehicle models, with new parts added on a regular basis.  The NTN-SNR range covers the full spectrum of sensor technologies on the market, including passive, active Hall effect and magneto-resistive sensors.

All of these sensors are validated on test benches and the production is subjected to 100% quality control. Through its expertise on the bearing market, NTN-SNR guarantees full compatibility between the wheel bearing and the sensor. The range also draws on the company’s know-how and expertise as an original equipment manufacturer and its co-development of sensor/encoder pairs with the major car makers.

In order to respond effectively to the independent aftermarket demand, NTN-SNR offers a complete catalogue dedicated to sensors with the link to the wheel bearing kit. A brochure, a TechInfo information bulletin and all sensor part numbers are available on the TechScaN’R smartphone app.
