A level playing field, brought about by the new regulations in Formula 1, is encouraging some famous names to consider re-entering the sport. Although its main successes have been outside of the Grand Prix arena, Lola has had various involvements with F1 dating back to the 1960’s. Now it seems the UK company is serious contemplating a return in 2010.

Lola is currently carrying out a \"full technical, operational and financial evaluation\" of an F1 project, which would be its first involvement in the sport since 1997.

\"The current necessity for formula one to adopt a responsible approach in times of economic uncertainty, has created the ideal conditions for us to consider developing a car for the world championship,\" said executive chairman Martin Birrane.
