A new NCT centre has opened in Ballinasloe, Co. Galway. It brings to 47 the total number of NCT centres countrywide and will serve a large area of East Galway, South Roscommon amd the Midlands. Seven new jobs have been created initially and the centre is expected to handle 100 vehicle tests daily. The new 2 lane centre will have the capacity to inspect over 25,000 vehicles annually when fully operational.

The centre, operated by  Applus Car Testing Service Ltd  is based in the Poolboy Industrial Estate, Poolboy, Ballinasloe just off Junction 15 on the M6 Motorway was officiall opened by Minister for Training and Skills, Mr Ciaran Cannon TD in the presence of Grant Henderson, Managing Director of Applus Car Testing Service
