Safety warning on some fuel retrievers This unit was designed for removing oil only (including diesel) and not petrol

Dangerous ‘fuel retrievers’ which are not fit for purpose are on the market. These units are not designed to remove petrol, only oil.

They can class themselves as ‘fuel retrievers, as diesel is technically classed as a light oil.

This is a highly dangerous practice, which puts employees in serious danger. Petrol gives off an extremely flammable vapour, that only needs the slightest spark to ignite it and cause a potentially fatal explosion. Due to this risk of explosion, any equipment that is used for dealing with petrol and petrol vapour must be specially designed to minimise any risks and be completely compliant with Health and Safety requirements.

For the safety of your workers and the good of your business, please exercise caution when purchasing fuel retrieval equipment. Make sure it is DSEAR and ATEX approved. If it’s not clear- ask! And remember- the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.

AutoDrain design and manufacture a wide range of depollution equipment including the Workshop Fuel Scavenger, to safely remove petrol and diesel from vehicles. They also have years of experience in the business and are happy to offer help and advice on any aspect of fuel removal.
