No safety stars for Chinese carmaker

These days it is commonplace to hear of car manufacturers achieving 5 star safety ratings. However, results of crash test from Chinese manufacturer Geely have shown we should not take these high scores for granted.

In the Latin American equivalent of the Euro NCAP safety standard test, Geely scored a disastrous zero rating for its C1 saloon, the lowest possible score with testers, saying a ‘significant collapse of the body shell’, was judged to endanger all parts of the driver’s body. The car was also criticised for its lack of airbags.

However, don’t be surprised if Geely rectify this problem and make some big strides in safety over the coming years, as they are now the owners of safety conscious carmaker Volvo.
