Rubber metal components are a key and often undervalued part of vehicle systems. Connecting a variety of different parts, within different systems, rubber metal components deliver support and protection to many safety critical components. With such an important role to play quality of these components is vital to avoid premature wear and the potential for serious damage to the surrounding parts.

febi bilstein supplies a range of over 2,000 high quality rubber metal components, with OE grade rubber used on all bushes. This includes a range of engine and transmission mountings for a variety of vehicle makes and models.

Engine and transmission mountings ensure smooth, stable and comfortable driving. The engine mount holds the engine to the car’s sub-frame or engine cradle. It is one of several mounts that also protect the engine by absorbing vibrations, and ensures that the metal surfaces do not touch the car body.

Rubber can crack over time, and as the mounting perishes, it can result in excessive vibration and increased engine noise. Often, the mounts are overlooked as the cause of engine noise, which can lead to consequences such as excessive engine movement, which could allow surrounding components such as the fan or radiator hoses to make contact, leading to further damage. Movement may also lead to radiator or heater hose failure over time.

febi says It is important to check the mounting regularly and replace if there are any signs of wear to avoid further repairs and further damage. It is recommended that worn mountings are always replaced rather than any repair attempted, as a worn bushing will underperform.

febi supplies a range of over 850 engine mounts, with over 30,000 references, made with OE grade rubber to ensure maximum control and safe driving. This range also includes over 150 transmission mounts all made to the highest specification to ensure performance and long service life.
