Autobiz will be running a Practical Bodyshop Estimating training course, in conjunction with Bodyshop Services in November. The brand new course is designed to give accident repair estimators and bodyshop operators a greater insight into the practicalities of the estimating process and will feature full estimate procedures on several real life damaged vehicles.
Effective estimating is one of the most crucial aspects of the whole repair process, from a bodyshop profitability perspective. Mistakes made or items missed in the estimating process, can be the difference between getting a reasonable return on a repair or actually making an overall loss. All too often bodyshops rush the estimating process in their eagerness to secure work and can often end up completing repairs that make little or no profit. Poor estimating practice also means an increased chance of losing repair work.
This new training course is designed to take participants thorough the complete estimating process and covers aspects such as:
- Making a positive first impression with the customer.
- The importance of effective estimate preparation. How to thoroughly examine a vehicle.
- The importance of good note taking.
- Digital estimate photography.
- Additional factors to look out for related to the accident.
- Identifying non-accident related damage.
- Up selling your services.
Real examples of damaged vehicles will be used in order to clearly demonstrate the process.
Once information is gathered, trainees will then be shown how to prepare an estimate for the damage in question, using the Glassmatix estimating system. In particular, they will be shown how to use the system to maximise the revenue they are entitled to under Glassmatix calculations. The course will also touch on subjects such as dealing with insurance companies, effective record keeping satisfying legal requirements and how to follow up on estimates to secure a greater percentage of work.
The bodyshop estimating course will be given by a highly experienced estimator from Bodyshop Services, who has a wealth of experience in practical estimating, dealing with insurance companies and use of the Glassmatix system.
The course will be held at the AkzoNobel Training Centre in Dublin with refreshments and lunch provided. It will take place on Friday November 20th. Please call 091-523-292 for booking information.
