When it comes to heavy recovery, Scania power units are the favoured option for many recovery operators.
Scania’s generally have the capacity to tow pretty much anything on the road, so it is no surprise that it was chosen to supply the power in a new range of aircraft dispatch towing and pushback vehicles. Scania recently signed an agreement to deliver up to 3,000 Tier 4i emission-compliant engines for the pushback tractor 'TaxiBot', which will be manufactured by TLD in France.
The pushback tractors will be available in narrow and wide versions for the Airbus A320 and A380 series respectively, both powered by industrial engines supplied by Scania. The narrow version of the TaxiBot Narrow Body, is powered by two 9-litre engines developing 294kW each, while the TaxiBot Wide Body will use two 16-litre V8 engines developing 566KW each. The engines, whilst extremely powerful, also conform to latest Tier 4i emission legislation
