Spirit Motor Group has announced its expansion with the acquisition of Derek Burton Sales Ltd. in Kilpedder, Co Wicklow.

Over the past twenty-five years, Derek Burton Sales Ltd has built up a very successful 4x4 and commercial vehicle business with a strong emphasis on customer service.  Founder and owner, Derek Burton, is retiring from the motor industry after forty years to pursue his other business interests.

Spirit Motor Group is a well-established car retail business in South County Dublin, holding a number of franchises in the area.   Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo, Ford and Skoda each have their own showrooms across three different locations.  In addition, Spirit Premium offers a select range of pre-owned vehicles prepared to the highest standard.

With the addition of Spirit Burton, Spirit Motor Group will extend its presence into Co Wicklow and will support 9 jobs, bringing the total number of people employed by Spirit Motor Group to 130.  Current staff in Derek Burton Sales Ltd will remain with Spirit Burton, including Mark Burton and Michael Burton, as well as Cian Mahony who has been with the business since it opened.

Commenting on the announcement, Derek Burton said "I'm confident this business will continue to thrive as part of Spirit Motor Group.  All of the team looks forward to continuing our longstanding relationships with all of our customers."
