National Vehicle Distribution (NVD), one of Ireland’s leading car transportation companies, has taken delivery of five new Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks the first of 60 that will be delivered to the company between now and 2018.
Supplied by Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles main dealer Surehaul, who has outlets in Clonmel, Waterford and Urlingford, the vehicles are finished in NVD¹s blue livery and fitted with car transporter bodies from Lohr Industrie in France.
In the main, the 60-strong order is made up of 1843 Actros rigid units and 1843 Actros tractor units, with all cabs CompactSpace variants, which Mercedes-Benz says is ideally suited to the car transporter industry. All of the trucks ordered feature Mercedes PowerShift 3, Predictive Powertrain Control, factory fitted satellite navigation, night heater, high performance engine brake and full air suspension.
NVD provides a range of services including transportation, body repairs, pre delivery
inspections, vehicle conversions and enhancements as well as monitored 24 hour secure storage. Coupled with the capacity to hold 35,500 units at their facilities in Rosslare, Ringaskiddy and Baldonnel, NVD’s transporters operate throughout Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe providing direct deliveries from ports and factories to NVD compounds as well as vehicle dealerships throughout the country.
