John Mickel, driving the Team K-Seal Legends car, has won the 2015 Legends UK Nationals title.
This completes the triple for John after winning the Legends World Masters Final in the USA in October and also picking up the World Series title having scored more points than any other Legends racer in the world.
The popular championship using 5/8 scale replicas of 1930’s Ford, Chevy and Dodge cars serve up a unique blend of addictive and hotly contested races all over the UK. The cars use gutsy 125bhp Yamaha 1,200cc motorcycle engines and can reach speeds in excess of 120mph.
Mickel went into the final round at Brands Hatch leading the championship but with his rivals determined to overtake him for the title. Conditions were treacherous in the rain and wind, plus grip was reduced by the diesel dropped on track from the racing trucks. Despite this Mickel kept his nerve and drove a superbly controlled race to clinch the championship with 2 races to spare.
Mike Schlup, MD of K-Seal International commented, “John’s performance throughout the season has been outstanding. When we decided to back him and his team for 2015 we knew we had a winner but to achieve the triple is just phenomenal.”
