Brembo, a leader in coated disc production for all leading vehicle manufacturers, has introduced a much extended range of UV coated brake discs for the aftermarket.
When compared with discs with conventional corrosion protection, UV-coated discs ensure better resistance against corrosion, as confirmed by corrosion resistance testing in salt spray chambers and moisture resistance tests. UV coating also easily passes all tests with respect to resistance to high temperatures.
This form of coated disc also offers other advantages such as complete product protection through to fitting, which helps mechanics significantly by avoiding the need to remove oil from discs, which had been used until now for protection. A laser mark on the visible face of the hub allows an immediate readout of the minimum thickness envisaged for replacement. This makes assessment of the need to replace simple. The coated discs also look aesthetically pleasing with the metallic paint, guaranteeing that these discs always have a bright and pleasing appearance over their life span, thus appealing to anyone who wishes to combine brake performance with style.
The unique UV coating process is also far more environmentally friendly than traditional coating techniques with a process that produces fewer emissions and consumes far less energy.
Over the last two years, Brembo has tripled the number of coated brake discs available in its range. Thanks to the latest extension of the UV range, availability has been doubled to more than 440 items. This means most vehicles on the road in Europe can now be equipped with Brembo UV coated discs.
