SsangYong Motors, Korea’s newest car brand to enter the Irish market, have gained a strong foothold in the West of Ireland by appointing Cassidy Motors Ltd. as their first Connaught dealer.

Located on Sligo Road in Charlestown, Co. Mayo and established in 1984, Cassidy Motors is a family run business catering for the motoring needs of the North West of Ireland. Managing Director Des Cassidy has said he is delighted to be the first Connaught dealer to bring the new range to the West.

‘The SsangYong range is particularly relevant to drivers in the West, where journeys are that little bit longer and vehicles are put to good use. The strong towing capacity of the new SsangYong range will meet the needs of the agricultural community, while the high riding position and the powerful yet efficient two litre engine across the range will ensure drivers can navigate long journeys in comfort. The price point of the range is excellent and the fact that the Korando Commercial won the Irish Continental Commercial SUV of The Year proves that this range is offering something very different to our local community that definitely deserves strong consideration amongst car buyers.’

Dealer Development Manager John Keogh was delighted to appoint the Mayo dealer. ’With over 29 years in business, Cassidy Motors are uniquely positioned to  help us meet the demand that is here in the West for quality, durable vehicles. We are proud to be empowering a trusted local family dealer to serve the needs of their community.’

SsangYong’s range include the cross-over car Korando, the crew cab Korando Sports, the seven-seater people carrier Rodius and the commercial car-derived van Korando Commercial. The Rexton W will also come later this year in both commercial and passenger versions. A five year warranty and five year roadside assistance applies to all vehicles (up to 150,000 KM on commercial vehicles), and for a limited period only four years’ free servicing will also apply to all Korando and Korando Commercial models.
